A national leader in the democratic party says House Speaker Dennis Hastert is wrong to suggest Congressman Leonard Boswell, a democrat from Iowa, has been “written off” by she or any other democrat. Hastert was in Des Moines Friday to help raise money for the republican who’s running against Boswell and Hastert suggested democrat leaders have denied the 70-year-old Boswell had been denied key committee assignments. House Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi says that’s not the case.Pelosi says it’s “wishful thinking” on the part of Hastert. Pelosi says Boswell — a Vietnam-era veteran — is a “true patriot.” Pelosi says as a decorated war hero, Boswell “brings a valued judgment” to the work of the House Intelligence Committee. And Pelosi says Boswell serves on three committees, while most members of Congress just serve on two.
