Cleanup of muck and mud continues in far northeastern Iowa today after heavy rains hit this weekend. The rainfall caused several mudslides which closed state highways nine and 26 near Lansing for several hours early Sunday morning. The National Weather Service recorded three-point-five-two inches of rain in Lansing Saturday night. Other parts of Allamakee County recorded unofficial totals of more than seven inches of rain. That led to basement flooding, and one house was pushed off its foundation by a mudslide. Most of the roads were re-opened by Sunday evening. A few, including the Great River Road through the city remained open only to local traffic.
