A Minneapolis, Minnesota-based company is closing six of its grocery stores in Iowa. John Bousqet , is a spokesman for the Nash Finch Company, which plans to close Econo-Foods stores in Creston, Marshalltown, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Charles City and Cedar Rapids. He says there special circumstances in each case, but in general there are a number of factors, including the competitive environment. The company plans to close 15 other stores in Nebraska, Colorado, Illinois and Minnesota. Bousqet says the closing will impact a couple of hundred employees in al. He says we’re talking about less than 250 full-time positions affected, including regional and headquarters people. A release from the company says the stores were not performing well enough to continue investing in them.
