Governor Tom Vilsack says he’s pleased with the quick response from the Federal Emergency Management AgencyVilsack says he appreciates FEMA’s prompt response to the state’s application for federal assistance for residents and businesses in 14 counties that’ve been hit by flooding and high winds. Vilsack has declared a total of 65 counties state disaster areas, and he says it could be a while before the feds decide whether any additional counties get the federal disaster area designation.Vilsack says he asked FEMA officials to respond “on an expedited basis” to his first request for federal disaster area status, and he says it could take weeks or months before FEMA decides on the rest of the counties.Vilsack says cleanup is a long process and there will be people in Bradgate and Elkport cleaning up and rebuilding their lives for months.
