A northeast Iowa woman who predicted a plane would be shot down will face medical treatment, not jail. 47-year-old Denise Kimball of Harpers Ferry had called an airline office in Arizona in September of last year, telling authorities a plane would be shot down with a rocket launcher. Kimball claimed she could predict crimes by decoding radio conversations. Kimball was charged with willfully providing false information concerning a threatened attack on a mass transportation facility — a federal offense. In March a magistrate judge found Kimball incompetent to stand trial, and she asked that the ruling be reconsidered. But a U.S. District judge has upheld that ruling. Kimball will be hospitalized for treatment.
