The Federal Emergency Management Agency is closing three of its disaster recovery centers that opened in May to handle claims from flooding and severe storms. Stan Kramer , a spokesman for FEMA, says Waterloo’s office will close on Tuesday after six P.M., Mascon City’s will close Wednesday, and Marshalltown’s on Thursday. Kramer says they feel they’ve met the needs of most of the people with claims. He says the traffic is slowing down at the centers, so they’ve decided to close them. Kramer says you can still make a claim after those offices close. He says you need to call the 1-800-621-3362 with questions or to make a claim. Kramer nearly six-thousand Iowans have visited a recovery center, or called in. He says almost 13-hundred have come in to the offices, while almost four-thousand have called the toll-free number to ask for help. Kramer says almost nine million dollars has been approved for Iowans who suffered losses.
