Iowa’s Republican Senator, Charles Grassley, says Edwards will be a formidable opponent who may make it more difficult for President Bush to win a few southern states. He says since the polls are so close, he doesn’t think anyone is going to take Edwards for granted. Grassley notes Kerry and Edwards were not expected to win Iowa’s Caucuses a few days before that contest was held. He says it obvious proof you don’t take them for granted.Grassley says Bush has an advantage in the Midwest because older voters dominate, and Bush signed the bill that creates a prescription drug benefit for seniors. He says Kerry voted against the prescription drug bill and Kerry voted against “tax relief for working men and women” that has revitalized the economy.
