An Elkader farmer and his farm hand have been found guilty of tending to more than the corn and beans. 52-year-old Loyd Engler and 53-year-old Bonnie Bailey were each found guilty of two counts of attempting to make methamphetamine, and one count of possession of meth with the intent to distribute. Bailey was found guilty of possession of psuedoephederine with the intent of making meth, and possession of a gun by a drug user. Engler was also convicted of making his property available to make, store, distribute and use meth. Law officers say Engler, Bailey and others made meth at Engler’s Elkader farm. The two face the maximum penalty of 40 years in prison and fines approaching five million dollars.
