Dozens of pork producers have invested in the pork processing facility that’s planned in LeMars. One-hundred-15 “independent” Iowa pork producers have invested in what’s being called the “Majestic Food Group.” The producers’ $2.4 MILLION will be used to convert a closed beef processing plant in LeMars to a pork plant. Managers say the “Majestic” will employ about 56 people initially when it opens in October. Those who’ve invested in the plant will deliver most of the hogs that’ll be processed there. By the end of the year, the plant’s managers expect to be processing 11-hundred hogs each day. Pork producers have until September 30th to plunk down money in the plant. Project details are posted on-line at www.majesticfoodgroup.com.
