The Iowa Court of Appeals has rejected the arguments of a Polk County man who’s serving life for killing a child. Jason Neal was convicted of first degree murder for slamming his girlfriend’s child into a bathroom wall after the kid wet and soiled his pants. An autopsy chronicled extensive injuries, including a spanking so tough that it didn’t just leave bruises, it damaged muscles.  In his appeal, Neal argued there wasn’t enough evidence to convict him of first degree murder, which carries a life prison sentence. Neal also claims he was promised leniency if he talked to police after the boy was taken to the hospital The Court of Appeals has ruled there was ample evidence of abuse and there was no promise from the cops that he’d get lighter sentence. The conviction stands, which means life behind bars for Neal.
