Despite a 1-4 record UNI coach Mark Farley says don’t write off their playoff hopes just yet. The Panthers are 1-4 and have lost three straight to teams ranked in the top six, the latest a 17-10 loss to Western Kentucky. Farley says a lot of decisions are made based on how a team is playing at the end of the season. A bright spot for the Panthers was the play of redshirt freshman Eric Sanders who made his first collegiate start. Sanders finished the game 18-26 for 205-yards and a touchdown. Sanders says he did some good things, and made some mistakes, but says it’s all part of learning on the job. He says he made a few throws that he wishes he could have back. Sanders says the Panthers can still get into the playoffs. He says if they win out, there were two 7-4 teams in the conference that went to the playoffs last year. UNI is on the road this weekend to play Youngstown State.
