A suspect was arrested this morning in Cass County, Nebraska, shortly after the shooting of a Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s deputy. The suspect’s name has not been released, but early reports say the suspect was found inside a rail car. The deputy, identified as 30-year-old Brian Loomis, was reportedly shot in the arm. He was taken to an Omaha hospital. His condition is not being released, but reports say his injuries are not life-threatening. The shooting happened at about 3:20 this morning near the 42-mile marker of eastbound Interstate 80. As of mid-morning the eastbound lanes between Avoca and Walnut were still closed, as the area is considered a crime scene.
