Ballot mix up leads to another election in Shelby County

A new vote on a local-option sales tax is scheduled in western Iowa’s Shelby County, after a controversy over ballots in this month’s election. The measure was on the ballot in the November Second elections, but three precincts gave out incorrect ballots for a while that morning. The mistake was eventually corrected, but not before more than 200 people had already voted. The measure failed by about 50 votes. The new election on the one-cent local-option sales tax will be held March Eighth.
