University of Iowa ticket manager David Sandstrum says the Capital One Bowl in Orlando may be sold out by the start of next week. The Hawkeyes will make their first appearance in the New Year’s Day contest and the ticket office will handle ticket applications through Friday. He says they sold out of the initial allotment of 12-thousand tickets, secured an additional three thousand that he anticipates they’ll sell out of too. He says once they know the opponent, they may have access to additional tickets. He says they should know the opponent after Saturday’s S-E-C championship game.Auburn and Tennessee meet in the Southeastern Conference title game on Saturday and after that game either Auburn or defending national champion L-S-U will be invited to be the Hawkeyes’ opponent. Both of those teams draw large followings and Sandstrum says Iowa may not be able to acquire additional tickets. He says those people who don’t have orders in by Friday, won’t have a chance to get a ticket through the university. Sandstrum says season ticket holders have first priority but general public orders are also being taken. He says they’re selling tickets, but not guaranteeing priority. He says it looks like they will be able to take care of anyone who orders a ticket through the university office. The 9-2 Hawkeyes won a share of the Big Ten Conference title and will be playing in a January bowl game in Florida for the third consecutive year.
