A brief search for an Iowa City girl has ended happily. Police Sergeant Brian Krei is the public-information officer in Iowa City andsays the police department’s now canceled its missing-persons report on 10-year-old Mahogany White. She was found at her home, and the department will continue to investigate the incident. It began with a call yesterday from the family of a girl who said she went missing while accompanying other family members on a hospital visit. “She was missing yesterday,” he says, “She got back home this morning.” He says it began at Iowa City’s Mercy Hospital, where the girl was there with family and not as a patient. He’s not sure what part of the hospital they were in when it was discovered the girl was missing, but she apparently went home. Sergeant Krei says they’ll continue to piece together what happened in the hours when the girl’s whereabouts were unknown, though she’s now home safe.
