It’s never good to fall asleep at the wheel, but doing it in front of the county jail with a drug lab in your car is even worse. A man who found himself in that situation in Waterloo this week is now behind bars. Kirk Marvel, who’s age and home address weren’t released, is in the Black Hawk County Jail under a 150-thousand dollar bond. Sheriff’s officials arrested Marvel early Tuesday morning after watching the car he was driving pull up to a city intersection in front of the county jail and sit through two stop-light cycles. Deputies decided to investigate. Authorities who approached the car say they noticed a strong ether odor and found several drug-making materials inside, along with the driver asleep at the wheel. The driver, later identified as Marvel, was then charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.
