DM 18-year-old dead, boyfriend under arrest

A young Des Moines mother was found slain over the weekend.Police were called at midday Saturday to the home 18-year-old Gabriela Chavarria shared with her boyfriend Rodrigo Sanchez and their infant daughter. Investigators say Chavarria had been shot to death, though an autopsy is still pending. Sanchez was arrested early Sunday, but not in connection with the killing. Police say they found marijuana in the home and booked Sanchez on a variety of drug charges. The little girl, who’s just a few months old, is reportedly in a Des Moines hospital being treated for kidney problems.
