University of Iowa officials say renovations at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City are ahead of schedule. Jane Meyer, senior associate athletic director for the University of Iowa, says the stadium will be a construction zone throughout the coming football season, though, in order to complete the two-year project. Much of what’s already happened has been underground work, putting in the support structures. “You will actually see structure going up on the south end and the north end of the press box throughout the summer,” she says. “That should start rising out of the ground here in the next six to eight weeks.” The parking area west of the stadium will be redone, too. “As I have said before, parking will be a very interesting process this fall and no one should expect to get their same parking space in that area because we will be revamping it and redesigning itand getting that out to our fans with where different parking locations will be,” she says. She says the new seating area in the south endzone will be done by this fall. For more details on the Kinnick Stadium renovations, listen to Meyer’s entire explanation on-line at www.radioiowa.com.
