Seven members of a Iowa High School wrestling team have been charged with hazing. The Pottawattamie County Attorney’s office says six juveniles and one adult at the A-H-S-T High School in Avoca were charged with hazing and simple assault in connection with incidents that allegedly occurred last month, and have been part of an ongoing pattern of hazing that took place during the wrestling season. It was alleged that on at least eight separate occasions, seven freshman members of the wrestling team were forcibly restrained, and that one individual would then take down his pants and place his bare genitalia against the faces and heads of the alleged victims. This conduct was referred to as “Tea bagging.” Pottawattamie County Attorney Matt Wilber says they don’t know whether the conduct was confined to the 2004-05 wrestling season, or whether it took place in the years prior as well.
