Muscatine police are piecing together the events that led up to an apparent murder-suicide early this (Tuesday) morning. Sergeant Kevin Sink says officers responded about 9-30 this morning to a call of a possible shooting on the city’s east side. In a house about half-a-mile from the river, they discovered the body of a woman. Officers who arrived there found the body of a woman, and reported the suspect had left. They briefly put out an all-points bulletin for a suspect in a black 1995 Chevy Blazer, telling patrol officers he was considered potentially armed and dangerous. But Lieutenant Brett Talkington says the search didn’t last long because they got a call from DNR officers at a public site outside the city limits. The suspect vehicle was found about 10:30 in Wildcat Den State Park. Inside it, their suspect was found dead, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No other suspects are being sought at this time. The Division of Criminal Investigation’s helping sheriff’s police, and the DNR officers investigate the case.
