The Iowa football team will close out spring practice today in a private setting. Renovations to Kinnick Stadium prevented the Hawkeyes from holding an annual spring game so they will have a closed practice to end drills. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says Saturday will be a practice much like last week. He says it has been a productive spring but says a number of injured players have not been able to take part. He says that’s tough because you can’t gauge where those players are at.When teams have bad seasons they are encouraged to put it behind them and move on. Ferentz says that’s also a theme in the Iowa program which has enjoyed so much success in recent years. The Hawkeyes are coming off their second straight New Years Day bowl victory and their second Big Ten co-championship in three years, but he says they’re moving on. He says some of the veterans have shown they’re playing hard and not resting on their laurels, and he says that sets a good example.Iowa finished 10-2 last season.
