The Webster City girl who was kidnapped last week and found in Kentucky still has not been returned home by authorities. 15-year-old Monique Williams vanished last Tuesday, allegedly with a man she met on-line. Tina Schultz is Williams’ mother, who says she didn’t initially think her daughter had been kidnapped. They thought she might have just run away, locally, but it was quickly determined that Williams was with the man in Kentucky who she’d met in an Internet chat room, which Schultz said gave her a “nervous breakdown.” Schultz says she had tried in vain to regulate her daughter’s use of the Internet. Schultz says she’d prevously caught her daughter talking with adults over the Internet and they got into an argument over it. Schultz eventually backed off, thinking the on-line conversations were over, but she says she wishes she had been more persistent. She recommends other Iowa parents learn from her bad example. Schultz says check everything your child does on-line, even if they get angry, at least they’ll be safe. She acknowledges, without the fast action of police, her daughter might have been killed. She says they have disconnected their home’s Internet connection. 37-year-old Bruce Anthony Myers of Canmer, Kentucky, is charged with third-degree kidnapping and may face additional charges.
