A new resource for women’s been created by Iowa’s Department of Public Health. Spokesman Kevin Teale says the website “Women’s Health Iowa” offers another place to find tips, answers and links. The agency’s had a toll-free number for some time where women can call with their questions about health information, and he says they’ve added a website, www.womenshealthiowa-dot-info. A number of health issues are unique to women, and their physical, mental and social health, and the website is a clearing house for that information. This website has information on topics like breast and cervical cancer, women’s fitness, pregnancy, and heart disease. Teale notes the information itself is NOT to be used for diagnosing or treating any particular health condition. The health department urges women and their families to talk with their doctors to get more information, as the website’s just to help them sort out all the information that may be out there. The toll-free number called the Iowa Healthy Families Line, is still in operation, too, at 800-369-2229.
