Some buildings that remain from a northwestern Iowa college that closed in 1997 may be restored as halls of learning. Three buildings on the former Westmar University campus in LeMars could be used for educational purposes again in the fall of next year. The LeMars city council has approved the sale of the science hall, a dorm and the library to American College of Pharmacy for 400-thousand dollars. The start-up company’s chief executive officer says officials will be coming to LeMars in about a year and the college dean will be hired then. The pharmacy degree program will be a four-year program though it will take a few years to become accredited. The college will have 40 students initially but is expected to grow because of the high demand for pharmacists.
