With final exams out of the way the UNI volleyball team is getting a head start on next season. The coaching staff and eight returning members from last year’s team leave today for an 11-day trip to Brazil. During there stay, UNI will play in San Paulo and Rio against three Brazilian club teams and also participate in a sand volleyball tournament. Teams are allowed an overseas trip once every four-years. Panther’s coach Bobbie Petersen explains why they decided to go to Brazil. She says they’ve gone to Holland, and Paris and Germany and this year wanted to go to someplace different. Petersen says UNI will face some good competition during their trip. She says volleyball is second to soccer in Brazil and it will be a great experience to go there. Northern Iowa is coming off a 22-10 record last year.
