The Iowa football program has generated a lot of momentum with its success on the field the past few years and that is reflected at the box office. U of I ticket manager David Sandstrum says season ticket sales are well ahead of last year. He says the first day they went on sale, April 15th, it was more like selling tickets for a bowl game than for regular season tickets. Sandstrum says they are offering two three-game packages for the upcoming season but sales for the one which includes the Michigan game have been halted. He says both packages sold over two thousand within eight hours. Single game tickets won’t go on sale until July 14th and Sandstrum says there may not be much to choose from. He says at current sales trends, Michigan won’t be available, and he says Illinois and Minnesota likely won’t either.
Sandstrum says they are not losing many, if any of their season ticket holders from last year. He says of renewals are going very, very well and many people are ordering more tickets. The Hawkeyes have a six-game home schedule for the upcoming season. It begins September third against Ball State.
