The Iowa Supreme Court has ruled in the case of the complaining convicts. The Lucas County sheriff charged room and board to six inmates in the county jail. A lower court ordered the men to pay the 50-dollars-a-day bill for jailhouse lodging. The six sued, complaining that their constitutional rights were being violated. The Iowa Supreme Court has ruled against the convicts, agreeing with a district court judge who said it was “necessary, fair and reasonable” to collect the money from the men. The six who sued and now have been ordered to pay up are Michael Byron Abrahamson, Chad Eugene Krutsinger, Sonny Wayne Oxford, James Richard Stier, Fred Lee Willett and Christopher Allen Levy.
