The former president of the Garnavillo Savings Bank has been charged with bank fraud. 56-year-old Kurt Kintzel was charged in connection with the alleged embezzlement of more than 150-thousand dollars. Trial information filed in U.S. district court in Cedar rapids accuses Kintzel of embezzling the funds between 1996 and 2003. If convicted, Kintzel faces up to 30 years in prison and a one million dollar fine. Current bank president William Robinson said that the alleged embezzlement did not affect depositors accounts and the full restitution had been made to the bank.
