Less than two years old, the Tournament Club of Iowa near Polk City will host the Allianz Championship next week. The course, designed by golf legend Arnold Palmer, opened in 2003 and takes over for the Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines as the new host of the Champions Tour event. TCI general manager Pat Franklin says final preparations are underway, with most of it getting ready for the crowds. He says the course itself has been ready for weeks and it’s just a matter of ongoing maintenance. Franklin says the course is in great shape and the weather as of late has been a big help. He says all the rain helped keep the course nice and green.Franklin says the TCI will be very “fan friendly” and offer some great places to watch the action. The first event is the junior pro-am next Tuesday which will be followed by two more days of pro-ams before the tournament begins on Friday, June third.
