The Briar Cliff baseball team leaves for Lewiston, Idaho on Wednesday for a first-ever appearance in the N-A-I-A World Series. The Chargers clinched a berth by sweeping Dakota State in a best-of-three super regional last week in Sioux City.Briar Cliff coach Boyd Pitkin says the support they had for the super regional was oustanding and to qualify for the N-A-I-A World Series is a dream come true. Pitkin says the players have had time to enjoy it but are now focused on what’s ahead. He says they’re still getting congratulations in town and on campus and he says they just want to go out and represent the university as well as they can.One thing that has continued throughout the post-season is the Chargers are piling up runs. They averaged ten per game in the super regional, as he says they swung bats really well. Briar Cliff opens the World Series with a game against Spalding of Kentucky on Friday.
