The Iowa baseball team opens the Big Ten tournament Wednesday afternoon in Champaign, Illinois against Minnesota. The Hawkeyes closed out the regular season third in the Big Ten and missed out on the regular season title by one game after taking three of four from eventual champ Illinois last weekend.Iowa coach Jack Dahm says there were a lot of games they came back and won, so they decided not to look back, but to look forward. Dahm hopes the momentum from last weekend carries over. He says they can hopefully play some good baseball and get that first win. Ohio State and Michigan also play on Wednesday and the top two seeds are Illinois and Purdue. Dahm says any of the six teams can win the tournament which has no clear favorite. He says Michigan and Ohio State are probably the hottest teams coming in and they have to face each other early. He says he’s never been in such a balanced tournament. It is only the second time since 1990 that the Hawkeyes have qualified for the conference tournament.
