A Shellsburg man was killed when two pickups collided near Center Point last night (Tuesday). The Linn County Sheriff’s office says 52-year-old Robert Becker died from injuries sustained in the accident. Becker was driving his pickup east when he failed to stop at a stop sign on North Center Point Road. He was struck by a pickup driven by 42-year-old Layne Samuelson of Cedar Rapids. Samuelson was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital and his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Becker was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital and later transferred to Iowa City where he died.
