Decorah baseball coach headed toward milestone in wins

An Iowa high school baseball coach could reach another milestone this evening. Decorah coach Dennis Olejniczak collected his one-thousand-115th career win against North Fayette, West Union last night. Olejniczak could move into sole possession of second place on the all time win list with a win at Waverly-Shell Rock tonight. Bobby Moegle of Monterey High School, Lubbock, Texas is currently tied with him in second place. Olejniczak’s coached for 43 years — 42 in Decorah. The Iowa and national leader is Kee, Lansing’s Gene Schultz, with a current record of one-thousand-422 wins.
