The Wilton high school baseball team came into the season with lofty expectations and the Beavers have met them so far. Wilton is 16-0 on the season heading into a non-conference game at home against Davenport Assumption and are top ranked in class 2A in the latest Radio Iowa/Coaches Poll. Coach Jake Souhrada has an experienced nucleus led by senior Wes Frie. He says Frie is one of the top players in the conference and his hitting .600 with eight homers.

Wilton has put together the unbeaten start despite a challenging schedule that includes the always tough Eastern Iowa Hawkeye Conference. Souhrada says they take pride in having a tough schedule and play a lot of 4A schools too. He says you have to play day-to-day to be successful.

Souhrada says a deep pitching staff is a must for the schedule they play. He says they have five kids who can pitch. Wilton is 10-0 in conference play.
