It’s Huffy versus Harley in the Quad Cities this weekend. Davenport is hosting two major events for two-wheelers. Sturgis on the River is expected to draw ten-thousand motorcycle riders, while organizers of Ride the River are predicting a smaller yet still-sizeable group of bicyclists. Kathy Wine is executive director of River Action, which is hosting the bicycle ride. She says they’re expecting two-thousand riders who will be following a one-way route that runs 18 miles with the option of adding loops for up to 60 miles. Wine says the ride starts Sunday morning along the Mississippi River in downtown Davenport. She says it’s an all-flat route that’s virtually all on bike trails. Bikers will ride along the river from Davenport into Bettendorf where they’ll catch a riverboat to cross the river, then they can ride up-river as far as Cordova, Illinois, before turning around –or– head downriver through Moline and Rock Island and cross the bridge back into Davenport.
