Drier conditions helped Iowa’s corn and soybeans make progress last week. The weekly report from the State Agriculture Department says the dry weather allowed farmers to get into the field to spray corn and soybeans — cultivate the corn and make hay. The report says 78-percent of the corn is in good or excellent condition – with an average height of 23 inches — or 94-percent of normal. It also says 99-percent of the beans have emerged compared to 90-percent the previous week and 94-percent for the five-year average. The report says 71-percent of the beans are in good or excellent condition — with grower reports that five-percent of all soybean acres in the state have been or will be replanted. Hay conditions were 74-percent good to excellent.
