Investigators say they’ve had a major break in the case of a missing northeast Iowa woman. Oelwein police have now filed first degree murder charges against a Waterloo man after finding the body of a missing Oelwein woman in Waterloo last night. Forty-year-old Tonie Barrett of Waterloo is now being held in the Fayette County Jail in West Union, pending his initial court appearance. Barrett was initially arrested and charged with failing to register as a sex offender last night soon after authorities found the remains of the missing woman. The woman’s name has still not been released. Authorities say they’re waiting until the autopsy is complete and positive identification can be made.
