The weather man employed by the state predicts a fairly normal summer in terms of weather patterns. State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says his “best guess” is that July in Iowa will be warmer and drier than normal. He says summer weather patterns are “persistent” so Hillaker guesses northwest and north central Iowa will continue to get rain, while southeast and east central Iowa will not get much precipitation. The month of June turned out to be about three degrees above normal, temperature-wise. Rainfall amounts varied widely throughout Iowa, and the statewide average precip for June was just a smidgeon above normal.
