A long-time Iowa high school football coach who retired after last season is joining the Upper Iowa coaching staff. Dave Barclay spent the last 25 years as head football coach of the Starmont Stars. Barclay led the Stars to the playoffs nine times, including a runner-up finish in 1999. In 2002, he was inducted in the Iowa Football Coaches Hall of Fame. Barclay graduated from Upper Iowa in 1972. He returns to the school as an assistant coach, in charge of tight ends on the Peacocks squad. Barclay was inducted into Upper Iowa’s Hall of Fame in 2000.
