A Waterloo bicyclist is being treated for head injuries following a mid-morning accident today. Details are sketchy, but authorities say the accident involved an off-duty Waterloo police officer who was on her way to work. She was driving a private vehicle at the time of the accident. Neither the officer nor the bicyclist has been identified. The accident occurred sometime after seven this morning at U-S Highway 63 and Ridgeway Avenue. The intersection is one of Waterloo’s busiest, a primary route between Waterloo and Cedar Falls and is located less than a mile from a John Deere plant. There’s also a bicycle trail nearby. Officials say the bicyclist suffered head injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No other details are being released at this time.(1 cut, Elwin Huffman, KOEL, Waterloo)
