Traffic is moving normally again on Interstate-80 in western Iowa this morning after a two-truck collision yesterday (Tuesday) near Atlantic brought the highway to a halt. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 68-year old Bernard Gross of Pender, Nebraska, was traveling west on I-80 east of the exit to Highway 71, when the straight truck he was driving left the roadway. Gross overcorrected, causing the vehicle to shoot across the median and strike the trailer of an eastbound semi. The straight truck flipped onto its side and blocked one-lane of the interstate for nearly an hour and a-half. Traffic slowed to a crawl as emergency workers cleaned-up the mess. Gross was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for apparently non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the semi was not injured.
