A memorial of American flags in Davenport honors our nation’s soldiers who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bobbi Wheeler is spokeswoman for the group Q.C. Fist, or Quad Cities Families in Support of the Troops. Wheeler says all of the flags are up with all of the names posted on the poles. Each one of the more than one-hundred flags represents 20 fallen soldiers. Wheeler says a lot of work went into the creation of this memorial, which is being called the Fallen Soldiers Healing Field. She says they have 102 posted with 20 soldiers on each pole. Nearby, another 26 flags are also flapping, which include the names of all of the three-thousand-plus victims of the Nine-Eleven attacks. The healing field is next to the All Veterans Memorial at Davenport’s Memorial Park cemetery.
