The Iowa Department of Economic Development Board approved state incentives for two Ames bio-tech businesses Thursday. D-E-D spokeswoman Tina Hoffman says the two will create nearly 70 jobs. She says Advance Analytical Technologies Incorporated will receive two million dollars and BioForce Nanosciences will receive 500-thousand dollars to create “high-paying jobs.” Hoffman says all the jobs at the two businesses will pay an average salary of over 30-dollars-an-hour. She says both of the companies are transitioning from research and development companies to advanced manufacturing. Advanced Analytical Technologies makes equipment to detect bacteria in food and beverages. BioForce makes miniature specialized bio-tech equipment. Sivyer Steel of Bettendorf also received state money today to help create 22 new jobs. She says they the’ll receive 100-thousand dollars to help with their expansion. Other state incentives were approved Thursday for a Clinton County company that promises to create 22 jobs. She says the Clinton County Bio Energy company which will create bio-diesel fuel, is getting 400-thousand dollars and tax benefits to create their facility. Environmental Lubricants Manufacturing of Plainfield will get a 200-thousand dollar state award to expand its production. The plant makes soy-based railroad and truck grease through a process developed at the University of Northern Iowa.
