A pair of old rivals meet for the 78th straight year as the high school football season shifts into high gear tonight. Class 1A top ranked Gladbrook-Reinbeck plays host to Grundy Center and after a runner-up finish in 1A last year coach Chris Ehrhardt’s team is looking for more success. He says each year the team is different and they want this team to have its own identity. He says they want this team to get into the playoffs. Gladbrook-Reinbeck has seven starters back on both sides of the ball. He says their four returning starters on the offensive line will really help.Grundy Center was 5-4 in 2004 which broke a string of eight consecutive losing seasons. Grundy Center coach Phil Lebo says they have 11 seniors who’re providing leaderships. He says a tough non-district schedule will benefit his team. He says they lost to Gladbrook-Reinbeck and Dike last year and then went on to go 5-2.
