A group of University of Northern Iowa students have set up a fund to help fellow students from Louisiana whose families have been affected by Hurricane Katrina. Molly Johnson of Cedar Rapids, one of the student organizers, says they’re working through the local John Deere Credit Union. She says they’re calling it “I-A for L-A” or Iowa for Louisiana. Johnson says they’re just trying to help any way they can. She says they’ll collect as much money as they can and will also collect supplies. The six exchange students from Louisiana all live in New Orleans. Johnson says her group also plans a benefit concert on campus later this fall.
