It appears the northwest Iowa town of Le Mars -won’t- be opening a pharmacy college after all. The Le Mars city council has taken action to declare America College of Pharmacy in default and a purchase agreement for three campus property buildings owned by the city null and void. The city will also retain a downpayment of four-thousand dollars. An attorney for Hawaii businessman Robert Shire recently notified Le Mars officials that Shire had exhausted his financial resources to purchase the property. There is a possibility one of the buildings, known as Centennial Hall dormitory, could be used to host Gulf Coast refugees. A city official says they’ve been in contact with state leaders about offering that possibility.
