The western Iowa town of Woodbine is the apple of everyone’s eye this weekend with the community’s annual Applefest celebration. Zell Miller, one of the organizers, says this first weekend of fall is perfect for such a festival.Miller says it’s been growing each of the past 17 years since it first began. He’s expecting about eight-thousand people to attend. Dennis Ehlert, a member of the Applefest planning committee, says all sorts of apple-related food and knick-knacks will be for sale.Other events at the annual fest include a car show, a motorcycle show, an antique tractor show, airplane rides, a craft show, a doll show, a flea market, a toy show, a buckskin encampment, a black powder shoot, an apple bake-off, a quilt show and genealogical society tours.
