Three people died in a housefire in central Iowa early this morning (Wednesday). Fire crews in the Story County town of Nevada were called to the house about a quarter-to-three this morning and found the front of the home fully engulfed in flames. Firefighers rushed inside and pulled out a woman, an infant and a toddler. All three later died. No names have been released.

Nevada police chief Mike Tupper talked to Radio Iowa from the scene and says the fire’s cause is still unknown. Chief Tupper says there is -no- indication the fire was suspicious in nature but a cause has yet to be determined. Tupper couldn’t say what killed the three victims.

He says “The circumstances surrounding how they died are also still under investigation. We’ve contacted the county medical examiner and we’re working with them on that issue at this time.” Reports say the father of the children works in Ames and was at work when the fire broke out.
