A Dubuque man charged with threatening to kill President Clinton seven years ago, now faces charges of threatening to kill President Bush. 32-year-old Terrence Rooney Junior had been committed to a psychiatric ward at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque last summer when he allegedly wrote a letter threatening to kill current President Bus, former President Bush, Senators Chuck Grassley and Tom Harkin, former Governor Terry Branstad and others. In December the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office received a faxed letter from Rooney that said voices in his head told him to kill the President, the Vice President and himself. In 1998, Rooney was indicted on six federal charges, including five counts of making threats against then President Clinton. He was sentenced to 14 months in prison. In this latest incident, Rooney pleaded not guilty and his trial is set for December 12th.
