A fraternity at Luther College in Decorah has been charged with bootlegging. The Sigma Chi Theta frat at Luther hosted a party on September 10th at Country View Golf Club in Decorah, and according to the Winneshiek County Attorney, sold alcohol without a license. The frat had rented Country View for the party. The owners of Country View do have a license to sell alcohol, but were not involved with the event. The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s office investigated the incident after receiving some complaints. The maximum punishment for bootlegging is one year in jail and a 15–hundred dollar fine, however, the county attorney indicates the jail term would probably not be realistic.
